Do you ever notice when you’re exercising and eating right that it’s harder to reach for the potato chips and easier to sign up for that extra fitness class? Conversely, if you’re in couch potato mode watching TV and throwing back the beers, it seems almost impossible to tie up the tennies and get moving.
As I was walking to yoga this morning I was thinking, “Ugh…I wish I hadn’t signed up for class today.” I hadn’t been to class in a week and tossed back pork nachos two nights in a row. My body just wanted to sit on the couch and chill. I thought to myself, “Nancy, you’ve been in a vicious cycle. This yoga class is going to break you out of that. It’s time to spin into a virtuous cycle.”
During class and after class I felt great. I went to the farmer’s market and loaded up on fresh veggies and organic eggs. The thought of the left-over pizza in the fridge disgusted me.
It was that easy. Just noticing that the momentum was going in the wrong way helped me redirect into a new mode. Which cycle are you in? Is it time for a shift? If so, take a baby step and see if it turns the tides.
